The technology consulting is a field that focuses on advising other companies how to use information technology to achieve their business goals. Additionally, implement, install and manage computer systems contract.

The technology consulting industry can be seen as a set of four layers:

• Professional services firms that maintain a dedicated staff and charge high fees.
• Subcontracting, is euphemistically called bodyshopping lately. Because customers do not want to hire new staff, it is increasingly common.
• Independent consultants and freelancers.
• Groups or companies associated consultants. Formula based on the unity is strength, a group of professionals gathered under one company or brand, usually composed of senior consultants with extensive experience, fluent in complementary disciplines involving a wide range of services: training, change orientation, search objectives through ICT and even support staff and management strategies.

The line between management consulting and management and technology consulting is unclear. There are times that overlap but usually the technology consultants have degrees in consulting.
